Ryan will lead Tigers out against arch-rival Turvey Park at Robertson Oval on Saturday as they look for their eighth straight win.
Tigers, who sit on top of the Riverina League ladder with three rounds to play, have been this year's big improvers after winning just two games last season.
"It's been a big turnaround from last year but we're not getting ahead of ourselves, we'll keep ticking along," Ryan said.
"I suppose picking up a lot of quality recruits was the main thing but a lot of our young blokes are having a red hot dip as well, which is good to see.
"Obviously Pag (Troy Maiden) too. He's a great coach, he's pushed us, things like recovery sessions on Sunday. It's been pretty full on but it's been enjoyable."
Ryan said the captaincy has been a bit more enjoyable the second time around.
"It's always good being on the winning side of things so it definitely has been," he said.
"Everyone has been on the top or bottom of the ladder at some stage and last year being near the bottom I didn't enjoy too much at all.
"Hopefully we can keep it up for the rest of the year."
Tigers lifted late to beat Turvey Park by 14 points on Good Friday earlier this year. Ryan said Tigers certainly won't be taking the seventh-placed Bulldogs lightly.
"They're a quality team," he said.
"I think they've been a bit unlucky. They've definitely got an up-and-coming team and I think they will be thereabouts next year, that's for sure."
Tigers will welcome back Jackson Kelly from Giants duties to face the Bulldogs.
