The third-placed Tigers were unbeaten through seven games after a loss to the Demons in their last meeting, but couldn't nail their chances in a 46-33 defeat.
Collingullie is now six points clear atop the ladder with three rounds to play, but face a tough run home beginning with a road trip to fourth-placed Coolamon this weekend.
Goal-attack Allen and fellow shooter Asha Murphy had a day to forget, but Allen said the positive is the solution is in their hands.
"They played real well all over the court and we missed a lot of shots we shouldn't have, I think that was the only difference," Allen said.
"They're always so strong, really consistent and hard to stop. It was more us losing it than they won it, which we're taking as positive because we know we can do better than that."
Demons coach Brigetta Hart said her defenders deserved some credit for the Tigers' poor efficiency in the semi-circle.
"I think it's a combination of both, our girls were putting on a lot of defensive pressure and making them work really hard, so when they were putting up shots they were quite fatigued which meant the shots were dropping short," Hart said.
"Molly Radley came on in defence and really made a difference, she was calm under pressure."
In other matches on the weekend Turvey Park clinched their first win of the year and handed sixth-placed Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong's finals hopes a huge blow with a 41-37 upset.
Grifftith took a huge step toward sealing a top five spot by beating Leeton Whitton 60-47, who squandered a chance to leapfrog the Swans on the ladder with a win, while Coolamon beat Narrandera 59-29.
