Andrew Harrington's mare took on speedster Godfrey Okerenyang in a match race on NSW Breeders Challenge Regional Finals day on Sunday.
She got the job done and now trainer-driver Andrew Harrington is hoping it will continue in the first of 10 races.
"The outing was good for her so she should be ready and raring to go," Harrington said.
Harrington thought the horse v human exhibition race, with Okerenyang handed a 50-metre start, added plenty of entertainment to the day.
Miss Modern Ruby has finished second in her last two races against the pacers, but after drawing gate one the Marrar horseman is hoping to go one better.
"It was a big run against Brad (Hewitt's) two-year-old Rockin With Elvis last week and she's drawn ideally," he said.
"She is a lot better horse in the first couple and seems to have run her best races when she was in the first couple."
Harrington also has Provoked engaged but admitted she will need a lot of luck from a wide draw.
