The Sharks began well when Ben Matthews headed home a James Trevaskis cross early in the match, but the Wolves found an equaliser when skipper Jayden Beattie's header found the mark off a corner in the second half.
The result means Hanwood (33 points) has overtaken defending champions Lake Albert (33) on goal difference after they hammered last-placed Cootamundra 11-0 on Sunday.
Henwood Park is just three points further back after Cameron Weir and Ned Evans scored braces in a 5-0 win over Tumut, while Leeton United solidified fifth spot with a 5-1 victory over South Wagga.
Lake Albert coach Mitch Tinnock said his side weren't clinical enough in attack and perhaps suffered a letdown after last week's dominant 4-0 win over the Hawks.
"We played pretty well in the first half, we just didn't take our chances enough, our last ball wasn't clinical enough," Tinnock said.
"Credit to Tolland, they played well, but we weren't fluent in our attack today.
"We want to get a top three spot tied up. We would have liked to finish first, but it's not the end of the world if we don't.
"Duncan Brodie and Ben Angel didn't play for us but there's no excuses, we still had a good enough team on the park.
"We got a bit scrappy in the second half, a bit of panic on that final ball in."
In the weekend's other game sixth-placed Young have some work to do to make the finals after playing out a scoreless draw with Wagga United.
