The Steamers made it four straight wins to skip clear of the chasing pack with the 46-15 victory at Murrayfield.
Albury charged out to a 39-0 lead to take down the second-placed side a fortnight out from finals.
Coach Paul Musarra was impressed with the performance.
"If we didn't win today we were in a tough position, but we turned it on," Musarra said. "We've been building a little bit each week and things paid off."
Musarra believes it will be a confidence booster for the side heading into finals.
"It reinforces what we've been trying to achieve," he said.
"Our ball retention was good, we changed the point of attack well and we let in three tries but against a team like Aggies to keep them to less than four tries is really good.
"Our defence was pretty solid."
Sam Allen led the way from the back, scoring a hat-trick in the win.
Liam Krautz also impressed, scoring a double, while .
Musarra is looking for another strong performance when they face Waratahs in the final round of the season.
The Wagga side took a 39-10 win when the team's last met.
Regardless of the result, and pending CSU not scoring their lone win of the season against Ag College, Albury will tackle Griffith in the first week of the finals with the winner going through to the preliminary final.
