Barrett collected two votes in Coolamon's win over Griffith on Sunday to move to 31, two clear of Olsson.
Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes teenager George Kendall was the other big mover in the award.
He polled the maximum six votes for his seven-goal haul in the Goannas' win over GGGM to move to third position and just four behind Barrett.
Griffith forward Jacob Conlan rounds out the top four. He sits on 24 votes after polling one for his five-goal performance in the Swans' loss to Coolamon.
North Wagga's Cayden Winter maintains an eight-vote lead in Farrer League's Player of the Year award with just three rounds remaining.
East Wagga-Kooringal's Chris Gordon is a clear second.
