Looking to make the semis of the NSWCCC Football Knockout for the second straight year, Mater Dei had their chances but couldn't hold off one of Sydney's strongest outfits.
After Mater Dei keeper Adam Stevens made two early point-blank saves, teammate Lewis Crowley had a great chance to open the scoring after 20 minutes but his one-on-one shot was saved.
Soon after Deng Deng got the scoring underway for the visitors off a nice through ball to give the visitors a 1-0 halftime lead.
Early in the second half Ethan Oldridge converted from the penalty spot, before Deng scored the sealer a few minutes later.
Mater Dei was without key midfielder Harry Trevaskis after he suffered a concussion playing reserves for Lake Albert on the weekend.
"We still played pretty well, they're a good quality side," Buik said.
" If we scored in the first half when we had that opportunity the game might have been different. We made a couple of mistakes early and against a team of that quality they scored.
"But we have a good side, to make the quarter finals for the second time in three years is a really good effort."
"Once they scored that second goal it knocked them around and we had to make changes to go for it.
"I actually think we played quite well, they just put some lovely one-twos together."
