The Dragons led for most of the clash at Nixon Park on Sunday, but it wasn't until Molly McCrone's late try that they kicked clear.
Coach Jackelyn Hughes was thrilled to take the 14-6 win.
"It was a really good team effort and they are a great side to come up against," Hughes said.
"They are the benchmark and have been for years."

Meanwhile Kangaroos scored an important 16-12 win over Southcity to move into fourth place.
They are now one point ahead of the Bulls and one behind Albury after their 24-8 win over Cootamundra.
