Simione Sawene, who grew up in Brisbane, has been named on the Cherrypickers bench for Sunday's round four Group Nine clash with Temora Dragons.
A cousin of star signing Aborosio Navori, Sawene is confirmed to play reserve grade and if all goes to plan for Young coach Roy Jewitt, he'll make an impact from the bench in the top grade.
Sawene is coming off a full rugby pre-season in Brisbane, but has experience in the 13-man code after trialing as a front-rower with Newcastle Knights back in 2012.
"Boro [Aborosio Navori] has spoken very highly of him," Jewitt said.
"He looked alright at training [on Tuesday], he'll need some time to get his fitness up to scratch but that'll come with getting games under his belt."
Young's made three changes to its winning team from last week.
Sam Langford has been named at centre to allow for Blake Hewitt to remain at hooker, with Numiasasulu Tema shifting to second-row and Casey Wall back to the interchange.
Kye Tiedemann is the other player to return replacing last week's debutant Harry Fitzpatrick on the wing.
Jewitt said confidence is high in the Pickers' camp after a relieving victory over Wagga Brothers.
"Getting that win does bring confidence and you can tell from the atmosphere at training this week," he said.
He's expecting a tough challenge from Temora in what's always a grudge match between two nearby rival clubs.
