The Tumut front rower was named on the bench of the under 23s team following the completion of the Country Championships on Saturday.
He was pleased to get another jersey, especially after Riverina's heavy loss to eventual champions Illawarra South Coast.
"It was a bit of a surprise as we had a bit of an unsuccessful campaign," Masters said.
"When I found I wasn't really expecting it but it is good and it's another trip away."
After going on tour to Papua New Guinea last year, this time around the team, coach by Albury's Josh Cale, is heading to New Zealand.
Masters loved the tour last season and is looking forward to another good experience.
"There is a couple of boys in the side from last year so I already know a few boys plus there's a few I played 20s against," he said.
"It is always good to get in another rep side like that and go away and have some fun."
The reigning Weissel Medal winner wasn't at his brilliant best as the Blues scored a narrow win over Brothers on Sunday.
However he was pleased to get off to a winning start.
"I didn't play my best footy but the boys dug in," Masters said. "It was a very gutsy win, first round of the year by two points under all that pressure."
The 21-year-old will be eligible for Country selection again next season.
