It is still the only field day held in the agriculture-rich Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA).
The Riverina Field Days attracts close to 5000 people each year across two days and showcases the best agricultural machinery and products from the region.
As the largest and most productive irrigated agricultural area in Australia, the MIA produces quality food and fibre products and is widely known as the "food bowl" of NSW.
It produces a range of fruits and vegetables, broadacre crops ranging from rice and wheat to cotton and maize, beef and poultry, and is home to Australia's largest producers of prunes, walnuts and almonds.
One in every four glasses of Australian wine comes from the MIA, along with 25 per cent of Australia's rice, 30 per cent of all of Australia's citrus and enough cotton in one season to make 193 million pairs of jeans.
Field days organiser Roly Zappacosta said the machinery and farming exhibitors are always the biggest attraction.
"The Riverina Field Days showcase the best in farming practices and it's all thanks to the quality exhibitors," Mr Zappacosta said.
"But it's not just for the farmers.
"There's a wide range of giftware, homewares, health and nutrition, home improvement, manchester, arts and craft and loads more."
A combination of family and children's attractions, entertainment, food and demonstrations have made the Riverina Field Days an event on Griffith's calendar that many people look forward to.
"Many of last year's exhibitors have booked again and there is a great interest from first time exhibitors," Mr Zappacosta said.
"That means there is always something new to interest members of the public."
There is a great deal of infrastructure in place at the Griffith Showgrounds to accommodate and facilitate the field days, such as permanent toilets, ample parking, secure fencing, seating and three buildings providing exhibitors with undercover areas, saving on marquee hire.
Sizes of sites range from 20x20 metres, down to 6x6m, powered or non-powered.
Mr Zappacosta said they were always looking for new and interesting attractions and demonstrations to showcase.
"Non-agricultural exhibitors and food stalls are also welcome as they provide diversity and variety to the event," he said.
