Wagga police conducted another high-visibility operation involving police riot squads in Ashmont on Wednesday evening.

It comes as part of an ongoing operation to maintain order after a large-scale brawl of about 100 people in Ashmont in late February this year.
Three riot squad members from Sydney and five local support teams were in the area.
Acting Inspector Steve Magnone said last night’s operation was successful.
“There were no recorded incidents of police having to interact with anyone at this stage,” Inspector Magnone said.
“The operation’s had the desired effects.
“It’s been quiet in those areas so the operation obviously taken effect.”

The acting inspector said police will continue to conduct the operation for “as long as we need it”.
“We got local resources, which can handle the operation if required and the specialist resources when required,” Acting Inspector Magnone said.
There have been no arrests or charges related to the incident at this stage.
The brawl on February 23 happened after tensions escalated from a funeral the day before.
One woman was injured and taken to Wagga Base Hospital.
