WWCC’s Dominic Shepherd emerged victorious in the Tolland handicap “clubby” out at Uranquinty, seeing off a small but spirited field to clinch the first win of the Wagga season.
The Junee product finished ahead of Tolland CC members Andrew Bradley and Nicholas Martin with veteran cyclist Will Silver taking the fastest time in one hour, one minute and 20 seconds.
Tolland CC legend Barry O’Hagan said the reduced field kept its three bunches separate for the duration of the race.
“The bunches never met up so Dominic and those guys were never really caught,” O’Hagan said.
“There was a bit of a headwind to deal with on the way out but that was flipped in the second part and probably helped keep the groups apart.”
