Three Wagga High students, Harry Moss, Sam Springett and Josh Mills, are backing their friend Jayden Nelder, who has signed up for the World’s Greatest Shave.
Jayden, who is also at Wagga High, will be shaving his head to raise money for research into leukaemia, and the boys have been talking about the best way to support him.
While they were discussing whether to shave their heads or dye their hair in a show of support for Jayden, another mate, John Orr, came on board, and now there is the potential for an added dimension because John is a student at Mount Austin High School.
The boys reckon there could be the beginnings of some light-hearted rivalry, but they are mostly keen to make sure the community backs people like Jayden and the World’s Greatest Shave.
“Everyone knows someone who has had leukaemia or cancer,” Harry said.
“In our families, or in our friends’ families or even at school, we know people who have cancer,” Sam added.
“When we found out what Jayden was going to do, we wanted to give him support.”
Jayden will be shaving his head on March 16, and has set himself a fundraising goal of $560.
His mates would love to see him reach – and even beat – his goal.
The World’s Great Shave is held by the Leukaemia Foundation. To support Jayden’s efforts, you can go to his page.
