That was the story of another successful Wagga Futsal Cup and, despite the toasty conditions, event coordinator Sam Gray couldn’t be happier with the overall performance.
“It’s amazing to see how well the sport is growing here in Wagga,” Gray said.
“It was really busy and a very good tournament overall and everyone was amazed with the level of skill shown.
“It was hot but we built in drinks breaks and managed the air conditioning through games too.”
Sunday’s finals proved a thrilling affair with two deciders going to penalties.
“In the under 12s final, we had teams go all the way to the seventh sudden death penalty round – it was a terrific game,” Gray said.
“I was also really impressed with how the Wanderers sides performed through the tournament.
“Seeing them participate and win games was a really good sign for not just futsal in Wagga, but also soccer in the region.”
