The small total was more than enough against Wagga RSL on Sunday after the Bulldogs were bowled out for 69.
Captain Ryan Forsyth was thrilled to move around Kooringal Colts on percentage after just coming up short against South Wagga in their last match.
“We had trouble last week bowling out the tail end so it was really pleasing our bowlers were able to finish the job and get them out cheaply,” Forsyth said.
“It was a win we need.”
Saints were in early trouble at 2-4 before contributions from Brendan Gale (32), Jared Koetz (33), Luke Hipwell (26) and Forsyth (24) helped steady things.
Sam Perry picked up 4-56 while Tim Cameron and Nick Grant both secured three wickets however it wasn’t enough for the Bulldogs to bring up just their second win of the season.
Instead Dave Garness (3-13) and Beck Frostick (2-3) did plenty of damage to come away with an unlikely win.
Forsyth was disappointed with their first innings effort with the bat, but was pleased with how they recovered.
“It was a really good wicket, there is nothing wrong with the wicket, it was just really poor shot selection and we batted quite low this week,” he said. “It was disappointing to get 140 but we were able to bowl really well.”
Saints then went for the outright win are were 2-62 before rain brought a premature end to play.
