Two crews from the Turvey Park Fire Station were called about 5.20am to a house located in Mumford Street, Ashmont.
Station officer Chad Kennis said the occupants were home at the time and called the Wagga Police first.
“Police are down there at the moment and it’s being treated as a crime scene as it looks suspicious,” Mr Kennis said.
“We attended for about an hour and there is some damage to the front.
“It looks like suspicious activity, like something was thrown at the front door.”
Mr Kennis said the front porch where the entrance to the home is has been damaged and the fire burnt through the home’s facade and into the inside cavity wall.
This marks the second house fire in Ashmont this week which was located just a street over.
Police are still investigating the house fire.
