There’s been at least 14 sets of twins, and a couple of record-breaking weights and a staggering 111 deliveries in April alone.
Quite a few of the 2018 arrivals made it into The Daily Advertiser, like little Isabella Freund.
Wagga’s first baby for the year, lsabella decided she was going to come a week early as her parents Karen Mumford and Nathan Freund were out bringing in the New Year in Narrandera.
Being New Year’s Eve, Mr Freund had indulged in a couple of drinks and couldn’t risk driving – leaving Ms Mumford to drive them all to Wagga before an emergency caesarean under general anaesthetic.
Fast-forward to the end of January and there was a mini baby boom at the Base, with 31 babies – including two sets of twins – born in just one week. Eight were born in two days alone.
Mother’s Day was made even more special for Melody Betts, who welcomed baby Nathan James Kelleher with partner Aaron on the second Sunday in May.
He was four days overdue and “the first boy in a long time” on Ms Betts’ side.
September represents a season of many celebrations for Irene and Shady Eskander.
The month has Irene’s birthday, Shady’s brother’s birthday, the couple’s wedding anniversary, and as of 10.26am on September 2, their son’s birthday too.
Having arrived six weeks before he was due, baby Eskander proved keen to hasten his first Father’s Day.
weighing just 2286 grams at the time of his birth, baby Eskander has plenty of personality.
“I think he will be left-handed like his mother,” said Dr Eskander.
“It was a surprise to become a father on Father’s Day, but it is the best gift a father could want.”
