The month has Irene’s birthday, Shady’s brother’s birthday, the couple’s wedding anniversary, and as of 10:26am on September 2, their son’s birthday too.
Having arrived six weeks before he was due, baby Eskander proved keen to hasten his first Father’s Day.
He might not have a name yet, but weighing just 2286 grams at the time of his birth, baby Eskander has plenty of personality.
“I think he will be left-handed like his mother,” said Dr Eskander.
“It was a surprise to become a father on Father’s Day, but it is the best gift a father could want.”
Despite his sudden entry into the world, Wagga Base Hospital midwife Amanda Newman said his first moments presented no troubles.
“He came out crying and breathing all on his own, no worries,” Ms Newman said.
Over the past 10 days the couple have endured numerous tests and scans, culminating in Sunday’s delivery by caesarean section.
“It’s been a long couple of weeks so we’re feeling great to have him here safe with us,” said Mrs Eskander.
Dr Eskander has lived in Wagga for eight years, while his wife has been here two. But majority of their family live in Sydney and abroad.
Mrs Eskander’s mother spent a day’s travel from Cairo, Egypt arriving at 5am, just hours before the birth of her grandson.
