That, and some tired bodies, summed up The Longest Day charity event at Wagga Country Club on Monday.
Nic Casey and 15 Country Club members teed off at 6am and finished the 72-hole challenge right on 6pm.
Other than a short 40 minute break halfway though, it was flat chat golf all day, firstly with an individual stableford, then with teams events.
Casey said it was a long day on the course.
“It was good. The first 36 holes flew, the next 18 were alright and then the last 18, with our bodies, they were very interesting, that’s for sure,” Casey said.
“Bart (Carroll) and Henry (Brind) did it with ease but the rest of us were knackered by the end of it.
“Everyone had a good day and everyone got through, which was the main thing.”
Carroll showed his prowess through the 72 holes, landing four eagles throughout the day.
Brind only missed a hole-in-one by about 10 centimetres on the 14th.
The group have raised about $13,500, putting them at number one in Australia, and expect to hit $15,000 once everything is finalised.
Joining Casey, Carroll and Brind were Mitch Daniher, Mat Bradley, Glen Seymour, Chris Adams, Adam Morrison, John Hoey, Glenn Maslin, Brendan Keogh, John Turner, Peter Lord, Janet Lord, Mick Reid and Max Jenkins.
