After linking with Warwick Farm trainer Matthew Smith in September, Prest was on a hit and run mission at Albury on Saturday.
It paid off with three straight winners on the card.
She came through tight finishes with Another Jay Brown for Rick Freyer and Liberty Boy for Wagga trainer Doug Vickers before another impressive win aboard Moving On Up for Phil Sweeney.
Prest was pleased with how things panned out.
“They were a bit unexpected the first two but they all ran well,” Prest said.
The efforts ended a long runs of outs for both Another Jay Brown and Liberty Boy.
Liberty Boy hadn’t won since September last year while Freyer’s runner’s last win was in August 2017.
Prest took the initiative on Another Jay Brown to head forward and it paid off as he just held off Lawton Joseph ($5.50) to win the Daro Twin City Benchmark 58 Hcp (1500m) at $26.
“He normally gets ridden back in the field, but the tempo was quite slow so I thought I'd go to the front and control the race,” Prest said.
Liberty Boy ($12) just got the bob in ahead of Freyer’s Autocrat in the following race.
It was just his second win at start 21.
“He ran a nice race, they wanted me to have him midfield and wherever he was comfortable and travelling,” Prest said.
“He ran into the race nice and just put his head down at the right time.”
Moving On Up justified his favourite’s tag to complete the running treble.
After winning his first two races, including one for Prest on the same track, the four-year-old scored his first win since January after downing Murrawee by over two lengths.
Prest is confident there are nicer races in store for him.
“He’s a bit better than TAB 2, he’s probably up to TAB class and better races,” she said.
The Albury trip was part of a busy period for Prest.
She had three rides at Hawkesbury, with her best effort a second, and will be back in the Southern Districts on Tuesday with eight rides at Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
She was also headed to Tuncurry on Monday before a change in plans.
Despite the busy schedule as she looks to make a name for herself in Sydney, Prest has enjoyed the experience so far.
“t is always good to go home, get a few winners and keep trainers while I’m in Sydney,” she said.
“Eventually I’ll come home and still have a good support base behind me.”
