In recent years, the Wagga Autism Support Group has created a low-stress environment in which children with sensory issues can still have a chance to meet Santa for a photo.
Organiser Jacinta Gordon said, for a lot of families of children on the spectrum, this can be one of the only ways to get a photo each Christmas.
“Every kid loves Santa, but a lot of the kids on the spectrum have issues with noise and crowds and lining up, so we take all of those factors out of the equation,” Ms Gordon said.
“Say you book in to come at 10am, there’s only going to be the person before you and the person after you there, so mum and dad just have to get them there, walk them to the hall, see Santa, and off they go.”
Sensory Santa will run this Sunday, December 2, at Willans Hill School from 9am til 4:30pm.
To make a booking, phone 0457 949 357.
