The former Strikers hard man will replace incumbent co-coaches Adam McPhail and Brent Farnsworth, both of whom are expected to stay on as players.
Cootamundra club president Wally Parkinson said Hassani had approached him after the Strikers’ Pascoe Cup season ended to inquire about the role and things had progressed from there.
“He’d been talking about it for a little while after going to Temora to coach and when he came to me this year, I told him to apply and put in for it.”
“That’s not to take anything away from Adam and Bugsy and they’ve done an amazing job but they’ve both got commitments next year and we haven’t had a non-playing coach for a while, so we’ll see what happens.”
Parkinson was hopeful the shift in leadership could spark some on-field improvements for the 2016 grand finalists.
“I’m honestly not sure whether having a non-playing coach will change much but I’m hopeful it’ll bring a different aspect to the team and help us get back up into finals.”
“At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about and our goal is to get back into those top few sides.”
