The Super 7s series was introduced by ACT Brumbies earlier this year with an aim of developing women’s sevens pathways and, in particular, tackling skills.
The four-part tournament kicked off in Canberra last weekend with Southern Inland fielding under 16s and under 14s sides.
Brumbies rugby development manager Damien Tyson reported a sixth-place finish for the under 16s side and a third placing for the under 14s.
Tyson said the first round was a “success” and is hopeful of generating momentum within the women’s game.
