The Blues have been struggling to fill two grades in recent weeks and this week’s trip to Gumly was too big an ask. The club hopes it’s a one-off and that they can meet commitments in their last three games.
The Magpies attempted to field a third grade for the first time in recent years this season, but have lost the six games they’ve played and forfeited another five. They’ve now conceded they won’t have a team for their last three games.
“It’s always a concern when teams are forfeiting games,” AFL Riverina operations manager, Shane Buchanan said. “We’ll be working with our clubs to try to help them work through current challenges.”
