The Rural Fire Service’s Bradley Stewart said the new station was a big win for the local community.
“We’ve got a station that’s located further into town, but we've basically outgrown it and it can’t really cater to our needs anymore,” Mr Stewart said.
“Being the sole fire combat agency in Tarcutta, obviously the time was nigh for them to receive an upgrade, and the station itself will be opened next Saturday.”
The new station will house two fire engines, a bathroom and kitchenette for the volunteer firefighters, and a small training room to help them prepare.
“It’s a little bit more comfortable and it's a significant increase considering what that they've currently got, so it’s an investment in the community,” Mr Stewart said.
“The presence of the Rural Fire Service really provides that level of protection that the community rightfully deserves.”
