Since moving to Melbourne as a boarder at Genazzano FCJ College, Wagga local Clare Vearing has managed to maintain one constant in her life, netball.
Clare, in Year 11, has been selected to represent Genazzano on a tour of New Zealand, together with seven other boarders, where they will test their skills against some of the top schools in the land.
“Having played netball all my life at local and representative level, the sport has always been important to me, and thankfully my move to Genazzano has presented even more amazing opportunities such as this trip to New Zealand. It’s the best of both worlds, I get to play netball and travel with my friends,” Clare said.

“The thought of coming to boarding school was scary, but the transition has been made easy thanks to a supportive environment and the help of caring teachers who understand the different issues we face as boarders.
Genazzano FCJ College is the only all girls Catholic boarding school in Victoria, and the boarding house, Hopetoun Hall, is a happy and nurturing home away from home.
Director of boarding Lauren Kennedy encourages this independence and social responsibility, confirming the girls are very involved in life at the college, both academically, through co-curricular programs and as leaders within our community.
“Our boarders are looked after by caring, experienced staff who work closely with parents to support the girls.”
