McDougall enjoyed his one and only ride in the Southern District Racing Association (SDRA) for the season so far and it was a winner as he teamed up with Donna Scott for victory on Sharlie ($2.80) in the Daro Group Benchmark 58 Handicap (1600m).
McDougall had originally planned on returning to Albury for four rides for Scott but a heavy downpour on Tuesday morning resulted in the scratching of three of his mounts, and many other runners on the card.
The three-time SDRA premiership-winner ensured it was still a successful sojourn, guiding his only ride for the day to victory.
"He makes a big difference," Scott said.
"We had planned a big day today but it didn't eventuate but at least the trip was worthwhile for him to come down and ride her."
McDougall moved to Melbourne back in August and has not looked back, riding a number of group winners from his new base.

It took every bit of his strength to score on Sharlie, after he made an early move to hit the front at the top of the straight and he lifted the mare to victory after she looked to have little left in the tank with 100m to go.
Meantime, Wagga apprentice jockey Molly Bourke continued her good form with a winner at Albury.
Bourke guided the Andrew Dale-trained Luna Glide ($12) to an all-the-way victory in the Albury Demolitions Maiden Handicap (1175m).
It was Bourke's first ride for the in-form Dale yard and her fourth winner since Christmas.
"She did a super job," Fraser Dale told Sky Racing.
"I think that's her first ride for us so she's off to a great start and I think there will be more opportunities after that."
Wagga jockey Mick Travers also landed a winner, steering Echuca galloper Headman ($14) to a dominant victory in the Purjen Couriers Maiden Plate (1600m).
