Riverina Highway Patrol detected the driver travelling at 68 kilometres per hour over the speed limit in a residential area at Forest Hill.
About 7am on Tuesday, officers from Wagga were patrolling Elizabeth Street in Forest Hill when they noticed a Mazda sedan travelling north towards the Sturt Highway.
The speed of the Mazda was checked on radar at 118 kilometres per hour in the residential 50 kilometres per hour street.
The vehicle was stopped without incident and the male driver produced an international licence.
The driver was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kilometres per hour and his visiting driver privileges were suspended for a period of six months.
Police were unable to seize the number plates of the vehicle as the driver was not the registered owner of the car.
