NSW Police has announced the heightened punishments will be in place from Christmas Eve up until January 3.
The double-demerits will be in force for speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences.
As part of the operation, NSW Police are urging the community to report any instances of "the Four D's", which includes drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.
According to Transport NSW there have been 262 people killed on the state's roads so far this year.
In the Riverina, the road toll has jumped despite much of the year being spent in lockdown, with 18 people having lost their lives while driving in the region.
