I had given up hope that we would ever hear any health professional providing "low carb, good fat" dietary guidance.
I was beginning to believe there was a conspiracy of silence to ensure a continuous supply of unhealthy patients to be harvested in waiting rooms across the nation.
In the past 10 years whenever discussions centered on dietary options, the refrain was that there is too much conflicting information in the dietary space and the "jury is still out".
For this wonderful group of people, on their mission to defeat diabetes, the "jury is not still out".
The jury has passed a verdict and pointed the finger of death at sugar and carbs.
It's a persuasive thing for doctors, such as Dr Peter Brukner, to concede that after years of personally following the high carb nutrition pyramid, it was killing him.
My revelation on diet and energy came at about the same stage as Dr Brukner.
My experience is that the principles, laid out by the authors of "Silent Assassin", work well, even for older people.
This project provides information to potentially improve the quality of life and lift the energy levels of millions of Australians.
Well done dietary warriors. Well done The Daily Advertiser.

PROSTATE GROUP GIVES THANKS TO COMMUNITY FOR SUPPORT
I write on behalf of the Wagga Wagga Prostate Cancer Support Group to thank the community and The Daily Advertiser for enabling our work this year.
With many men and families in the local area impacted by prostate cancer, we assist newly diagnosed men and long-term survivors by proving friendship and support.
We also proudly promote PCFA specialist nurses and their new telenursing service, which offers information and expert advice to those affected in our local area.
Community awareness is key to overcoming prostate cancer.
Over the past 25 years we've successfully boosted survival rates from 73 per cent to 95 per cent, and we couldn't have done it without your donations and support.
Over the Christmas period, please consider making a donation to PCFA for men and families facing prostate cancer, and remember that we are here for you if you need us.
To talk to a PCFA specialist nurse or join a support group, call Mark, Mike or Gary on 0466 043 781 or PCFA on 1800 22 00 99 or go to www.pcfa.org.au.
Our best wishes to you and your loved ones for a healthy, safe, and happy festive season.
Mike Murray, Wagga Wagga Prostate Cancer Support Group

QUERY OVER REPORT'S TIMING
Recently the Sex Discrimination Minister Kate Jenkins released the report "Set The Standard" which reviewed workplace culture in the Australian Parliament.
This report was commissioned after a former government staffer went public with allegations that she was raped by a colleague in a ministerial office. This criminal trial will begin in June 2022.
To commission a review before a verdict is reached is pre-emptive.
