Acting chief executive Carla Bailey said there were five cases recorded to 8pm on Friday, all of whom were residents of the Albury local government area.

Then there were four cases recorded to 8pm on Saturday, one a resident of the Federation LGA and three were residents of the Greater Hume Shire LGA.

An additional case, a resident of the Albury LGA, was recorded in the numbers to 8pm on Sunday.

Ms Bailey said only four people in the MLHD were being treated in the hospital for COVID-19, but there were no patients in ICU.

When asked about the new COVID-19 strain Omicron, of which there were two confirmed cases in NSW on Monday, Ms Bailey said it was still in the early stages.

"We are still waiting to see what the new strain means ... we will take advice from NSW Health, and we will follow the public health order advice that comes through," she said.

"At this stage, the indication is that the roadmap is continuing as is, but yes, it could change, and we will go with the advice from the state."

Ms Bailey said it was important for residents not to panic and continue following the public health advice as it comes out.

"At this point in time, it is being looked at with NSW Health, and we will let you know as soon as possible if anything comes forward that the community need to be concerned about," she said.

Across NSW, 94.5 per cent of people 16 and over are single-dosed, while 92.4 per cent of the same age group are fully vaccinated.
