Hayden Thomas David Eden, 24, was sentenced to two years without parole after pleading guilty to armed robbery causing wounding.
On March 30, 2018, the victim was messaging a woman and agreed to provide her with $50 in exchange for sexual activity.
The woman messaged the victim and asked him to take her "brother", Eden, to Ashmont Mall, and he would wait outside the home for the lift. The victim drove Eden to the mall, and upon arrival, was told to give the money to him to buy cigarettes.
When the victim got out of the car, Eden pulled a knife out of his pants and held it to the victim's throat, saying: "I am not her brother, I am her boyfriend. Why the f--k are you trying to hit on her."
The victim said sorry multiple times before Eden sliced his shoulder with the knife and continued to scream "give me the $50 now".

After he got the money, Eden said, "I could have killed you tonight" and "chucked you in the boot" and ordered him to block the woman on social media.
The victim was released and he later went to Wagga Base Hospital for treatment to the seven-centimetre laceration.
After a police investigation, Eden was arrested and charged in August 2020.
In sentencing on Friday, Judge Gordon Lerve referenced an impact statement from the victim who spoke of nightmares and being scared to meet new people.
Judge Lerve said Eden was entitled to a finding of special circumstances for his young age, his "relatively limited record", an early plea of guilty and difficulties he had faced in his upbringing.
"When he was about 11, his mother encouraged him to commence using methamphetamine because it would make him feel happy," he said.
"At home, he was exposed to drug use and ... witnessed people at the house overdosing.
"The offender said that he had not used drugs since his arrest, and he has moved to live with his sister in Narrandera."
Judge Lerve also referenced the "powerful" evidence given by Eden's sister, who spoke of how he had been helping her and her children and confirmed the challenges faced in his upbringing.
"Given the very significant steps taken by the offender, I am prepared to find on balance that he has good prospects of rehabilitation," he said.
"The offender is now leading a pro-social life."
Eden was convicted of the offence and sentenced to three years and nine months in jail. He will be eligible for parole from November 17, 2023.
