While Marks will remain interim president until the Bulldogs find a replacement, he said the looming new Premier League in 2023 makes it important for the same person to assume the role for the next two years.

Marks has been the Bulldogs president for the past two seasons.

"With the Premier League kicking in in 2023, whoever is president that year probably needs to be president next year," he said.

"A lot of decisions looking towards that will be made in 2022, you want them to be making those decisions. That was the whole aim of moving aside.

"The club is confident they'll find the right person. At the moment I've got full commitment to the club as an interim, I'll be there as long as it takes so Turvey Park will always have a figurehead."

Part of the criteria for Premier League eligibility is for clubs to establish a women's program, and five clubs have expressed interest in playing in next year's AFL Southern NSW women's competition for the first time.

Women's football was a big topic of discussion at a club delegates meeting at Narrandera early last week, in particular scheduling which allows players time to travel to games given matches are played on Friday nights.

Clubs have until January 14 to nominate a women's team before a season start on February 4, and the Bulldogs are one of the new kids on the block.

They will hold their first training session at Maher Oval on Friday night, and expect to settle on a coach in coming days.

"We had an extra five members join the committee (on Monday), as they know 2023 is around the corner and they want to be involved in the changeover," Marks said.

"At the delegates meeting the other night there was a fair bit of discussion around women's football, but there was no controversy over any other part of the changeover."
