A severe weather warning has been issued for parts of the South West Slopes and Riverina as heavy rains are due to arrive on Thursday night.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning as ahead of the expected arrival of several wet days.
"Heavy rainfall is expected to develop in parts of the ... south west slopes late Thursday evening," the BoM said.
Falls of up to 50mm in six hours could be reached, according to the bureau.

A separate severe thunderstorm warning covering the north west of the region has also been released, with the potential for flash flooding flagged.
The extreme storms could hit a swathe of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area during Thursday evening, bringing damaging winds and heavy rainfall to the Griffith, Hillston, West Wyalong and Young areas.
The State Emergency Service is preparing as minor flooding is expected along the Tumut and Murrumbidgee Rivers.
The weather change will bring colder temperatures, showers and gusty west to northwesterly winds through Friday, prompting a warning for landholders.
Wagga has a 95 per cent chance of receiving rainfall of between 20mm and 35mm on Friday, and is expected to reach a high of just 20 degrees.
Up to 15mm is expected the following day as the mercury drops even lower for the weekend, with a high of 14 degrees on Saturday and only a touch warmer on Sunday and Monday with a predicted 16 degrees.
The Riverina's graziers are urged to keep an eye on livestock as the conditions could put animals at risk.
The conditions could pose a risk to sheep and lambs in the South West Slopes and parts of the Riverina.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains
- If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue
- Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks
- After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides.
- Stay vigilant and monitor conditions.
