The family-owned circus has kicked off their latest tour of regional NSW with a lineup of new 'daredevil' acts to excite and amaze spectators across the Riverina and beyond.
But the show will look quite different for returning ticketholders, with operators forced to rethink the traditional format of previous performances, with COVID-19 causing many acts to move on from Hudsons.
Ringmaster Shane Lennon said the pandemic has been "horrible" for his family and other performers.
"It really has affected the mental health of all of our team. It split up our team, not only last year, but this year with the vaccination thing," he said.
"There's a small amount of our team that didn't want to get the vaccinations, so they've had to move on, which created complete chaos behind the scenes.
"It's also actually affected my own family too, who normally perform in the show. They are still in Brisbane because of the lockdown and the border closures.
"But, you know, the show must go on."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Many of the families who previously made up Hudsons Circus have chosen to remain settled into new lifestyles rather than continuing to travel with the show, acquiring jobs during COVID to make up for lost income.
However, this has provided opportunities for fifth-generation artist Mr Lennon, with an array of street performers from across the country jumping on board, treating audiences to a new and unique experience.
"We've pulled those types of acts that you might have expected to see, like dancing poodles and stuff. Now you'll be able to see some new, very talented, weird and wonderful acts," he said.
"One example is a gentleman that comes from New York who is a contortionist, but he calls himself Bonebreaking Leo.
"It's one of those train-wreck acts where you have to watch it, and you can hear the crowd gasping. It's something that leaves people saying, 'Wow, we've never seen anything like that before'."
Despite all the challenges, Mr Lennon said his circus is "bigger and better" than before and will treat Wagga audiences to 10 shows in 10 days November 18.
The circus recently kicked off their regional tour in Queanbeyan and will travel to Tumut for four days of big-top fun before heading to Wagga. Cootamundra and Cowra have also been locked in for December.
Tickets can be purchased online or from their box office.
