Frances Day's volunteering achievements are something she would never seek out publicity for, but her humility withholds an extensive record of continuous involvement across the Lockhart and Riverina health districts.
It is for this reason that MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford awarded Mrs Day the MLHD's highest honour, the Chief Executive's Award.
"I think you are the most outstanding person, and we are blessed and fortunate to have you working with us. I have never known someone so deserving to receive my award," Ms Ludford said.
Mrs Day regularly volunteers throughout the MLHD, is chairperson on the Lockhart health advisory committee, and plays an active role as a consumer representative of the Murrumbidgee Clinical Governance Council and BreastScreen NSW.

"The thing that is really incredible is you [Fran] come along to bureaucratic meetings that are about a whole range of things from service delivery to patient safety and experience," Ms Ludford said.
Mrs Day, along with Lockhart Hospital's Dean Narchoni, has achieved much for their local community. However, she said the pandemic has enabled a strong collaboration between several local health advisory groups, allowing for ventures such as next month's health webinar hosted by Lockhart LHAC to happen.
The virtual event will star Olympic champion Cate Campbell who will discuss mental health resilience and her accomplishments both in and out of the pool.
"During 2020, we were in lockdown, but we actually developed a series of promotional campaigns, mental health flyers to raise awareness and improve health outcomes," Mrs Day said.
"In 2021, the team decided to go with a virtual webinar, seeing the advantage of being able to access people right across the shire and beyond, to make a difference."
The webinar will be held on November 18.
