Both the Moderna and PfizerCOVID-19 vaccines have become available to high school-aged children in NSW in recent weeks.
Wagga mum Katherine Flinn said she signed her 14-year-old Kipling up as soon as she could.
"He was keen as mustard so as soon as they became eligible I made the first booking I could," she said.
Originally booked in for Moderna at a pharmacy, they took a Pfizer slot at the federal vaccine hub that cropped up a week earlier to get him in quicker.
Mrs Flinn said most parents she knows are getting their kids protected as soon as possible, and almost all of Kipling's friends have already been vaccinated.
"The kids have been waiting around for months watching their parents wait to become eligible, and feeling trapped at home," she said.
"Him and other kids of that age group were like, put me on the list, they just want to get on with it."
The mum of four said if her three youngest were eligible, she would sign them up in a heartbeat.
"It just needs the tick from the experts and then I'm happy to have all my kids done," she said. "My attitude is, I'm not a health advisor or epidemiologist so I listen to the health advisors or epidemiologists."
On the ground, booking rates suggest Ms Flinn is in the majority.
SouthCity Pharmacy was one of the first in the city to start administering Moderna vaccines from last Monday, October 4.
Since then, owner and pharmacist Luke Van Rijt said they have been fully booked with most interest coming from parents like Katherine who are eager to get their over-12s protected.
"Uptake has been great, we were booked out everyday last week and next week which is fantastic," Mr Van der Rijt said,
"We had a lot of queries before the vaccine was even approved, a lot of parents did want to get their children vaccinated.
"There was that [desire] to have a vaccine available for kids and now a lot of people have been coming out due to that availability."
GPs and the federal hub are also offering Pfizer for the school-aged group.
Director of the Glenrock federal vaccine hub Dr Ayman Shenouda said interest from parents has been higher than he anticipated in recent weeks.
"I was actually surprised, we started [vaccinating over-12s] when the government announced it about 10 days ago and it has had a really good uptake," he said.
"We have had plenty of children from aged 12 and above."
Mr Van Der Rijt said they are administering up to 40 doses per day, three days a week, and said the new availability of Moderna is likely to bolster the region's vaccine rates considerably.
"It's absolutely boosting numbers," he said. "A lot more sites are vaccinating and there are a lot more options.
"Having Moderna and Pfizer at GPs [means] everyone has the ability to get vaccinated from 12 and above."
