CHARLES Sturt University goal attack Claire Wilson was rewarded for a stellar season with victory in the Marilyn Brooks Medal on Thursday night.
A thrilling Farrer League A grade vote count unfolded online on Thursday night as Wilson held off former teammate and defending champion Ashleigh O'Leary for a one vote win.
With two rounds to play, North Wagga's Sarah O'Leary, who had led for most of the night, held a one vote advantage sitting on 24, with Wilson (23) and Barellan coach, Ashleigh O'Leary (22) stalking close behind.
Ashleigh O'Leary polled two votes against Coleambally to momentarily join Sarah O'Leary in front, before Wilson grabbed three against Temora to storm to a two-vote lead.
Sarah O'Leary was suddenly out of play due to the Saints' final round bye, while Ashleigh O'Leary snared the one vote in the Two Blues' win over Marrar to take outright second but ultimately fall one vote short of Wilson.
Wilson finished on 26, ahead of Ashleigh O'Leary (25) and Sarah O'Leary (24).
Experienced Coleambally netballer Lauren Pound (21), CSU's Emma Borlace (18) and Temora's Abbey Reinhold (18) rounded out the top six.
It was a big effort from Wilson, who polled votes in 12 of CSU's 16 games for the season.
