The federal government will invest more than $1 million into upgrading Driver Reviver sites across the Riverina in an effort to combat road user fatigue.

Member for Riverina Michael McCormack said the sites - set up at rest areas and supplying free tea, coffee and snacks for all travellers - are "important in helping to reduce the incidence of road trauma and death", particularly on regional and rural roads.
Driver Reviver sites at both the Cootamundra and Wagga Visitor Information Centre's will be upgraded. Sites in Ardlethan, Cowra, Harden and Springdale - in the Temora Shire - will also be upgraded.

"Road safety has always been a high priority of mine and I am delighted to see this important funding going towards increasing safety on our roads, particularly during Rural Road Safety Month," Mr McCormack said.
The federal government is working with states, territories and local governments to develop the National Road Safety Strategy for 2021-30 in hopes of moving towards zero fatalities and serious injuries on the roads.
