Robyn Geale has witnessed many staff and students depart from the transient defence school during her 20 years of service.

But the time has come for the administration manager to say goodbye after forging countless friendships with the families who have come and gone.

"This is my second family. They have cared for me, supported me, and looked after me throughout all of my life challenges," said Ms Geale.

"Being a defence school, most families come and go, but many have kept in contact personally."

"Watching those children now turn into adults and have families of their own, it has just been so special to still be a part of their lives."

Ms Geale retires following 30 years with the Department of Education but stated she would miss her post at the public school "enormously".

"It's been wonderful, challenging, but the school is just so supportive," Ms Geale said.

"The most special thing is the caring staff, the wonderful people, and the different people that I meet all the time being in this school."

Ms Geale has played a pivotal role in student transitions, with many defence families remaining in Kapooka for only two years.

Principal Lyn Eacott stated her knowledge and dedication to the school has been like none other.

"She's just a rock to me, she's just been my go-to person," Ms Eacott said.

"She is the first person everyone speaks to when they come to the school and I've had that much feedback about how helpful and pleasant she is."

Ms Eacott said Ms Geale's compassionate, and friendly personality will be sorely missed by staff and students.

"We've already had lots of families who have connected Robyn about it being her last week, including families that have previously attended the school," Ms Eacott said.

"She'll be missed by any student that has ever been through the school."

As for Ms Geale's retirement, she plans to spend as much time with her family as possible.

"Travelling to London to see my son and my grandson who is now two and I've only ever seen him when he was born, that's the biggest, most special thing on my agenda," Ms Geale said.
