No further cases were reported within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District today, however further fragments of the virus were detected in the sewage in Young, prompting further calls for anyone with even the mildest of symptoms to come forward for testing.
The Albury LGA, as well as the Lismore LGA, will have stay-at-home orders reintroduced for seven days from 6pm on Thursday, however Health Minister Brad Hazzard warned this could be extended.
"[Can I] express my sadness to the local community that having been free of that for a little while [and] having to go back into lockdown, but it is for your safety and the communities safety more broadly," he said, urging anyone with symptoms to come forward for testing.
The stay-at-home orders will apply to anyone who has been in Albury since September 10 due to the recent COVID exposures.
Dr Marianne Gale said the two cases reported in the Albury LGA yesterday may be linked to Sydney, but this is still under investigation by NSW Health.
"We have two cases in Albury where we are unsure of the source of those infections," she said.
"Those two people appear unrelated to each other."
Mr Hazzard also revealed that there were 1,351 new local COVID-19 cases recorded in NSW to 8pm last night, and a further 12 deaths, ranging in age from their 40s to 90s.
There were no new overseas cases recorded, and more than 129,000 tests undertaken to 8pm.
Mr Hazzard said that NSW Health administered 29,976 vaccines to 8pm last night, bringing the state's vaccination rate of over 16-year-old's to 80.1 per cent with one dose, and 48.5 per cent fully vaccinated.
"Just want to thank the community for coming out in such strong numbers to be vaccinated, because there's now almost 8.5 million people in NSW who have had the vaccines administered to them," he said.
There are more than 15,000 people with COVID-19 being cared for, with more than 90 per cent being cared for at home.
IN OTHER NEWS:
On Wednesday NSW Health revealed a person with COVID-19 visited two Riverina communities, including Wagga, and pleaded with people to come forward for testing.
An essential worker was in Wagga from August 30 to September 3, and in Young from September 3 to September 7, and has since tested positive for COVID-19.
Two new cases were recorded within the MLHD yesterday, both in the Albury local government area, breaking the region's 12-month streak of no new local cases.
A number of exposure sites were released by NSW Health late on Wednesday night in relation to the essential worker. Anyone who attended the following venues at the times listed below is considered a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
