Fourteen ticket winners will be awarded slots in the Kosciuszko on Thursday morning, with the feature race to be held at Royal Randwick on October 16.
Colvin is one of a number of Southern District trainers hoping to secure a place in the field.
Slot holders get to choose a NSW country-trained horse to represent them in the Kosciuszko and must negotiate a split of any potential prizemoney with connections as part of the deal.
Colvin's Another One is on the sixth line of betting for the Kosciuszko at $15. The Geoff Duryea-trained Front Page is the equal second favourite behind defending champion It's Me at $6.
Other Southern District-trained gallopers in TAB's market are Sunrise Ruby ($26), Jawwaal ($51), Lady Brook ($51), Blitzar ($101), Mnementh ($101), Lord Von Costa ($101) and Monterey Zar ($201).
Another One ran fourth first-up in the Ian Reid Sprint at Wagga last month and Colvin revealed the four-year-old had come on considerably from the run.
"We worked him (Tuesday) morning. He had a good gallop on the course proper. He worked with Nic's Hero, he's going down to the Highway on Saturday, and he worked very good," Colvin said.
"He tightened up after that first-up run. I'm very happy with him. It was a good hit-out for him, he looked a bit big and as I warned everyone, he needed a good hit-out. He tightened right up and they ran a bit of time in that race. They were three tenths outside the track record."
Colvin hopes to strike a deal with a slot holder later this week and will trial Another One at Wagga on Saturday week.
"I'm going to trial him at Wagga. He'll trial there. If he needs it, we might give him a jump out in between Wagga and the Kosciuszko," he said.
"I've got to get into the race first but if he makes it, that's good, but if he doesn't, we go down another path. You don't know how it's going to go. We'll head towards that and if we don't, we'll reassess our plans and go from there."

Colvin said Another One's work on Tuesday proved he is right on track.
"He's done very, very well. I'm very happy with him," he said.
"The way he worked (Tuesday) morning, we gave him a kick and he just went wooshka."
Pat McRedmond, a part-owner in Another One, runs the Union Hotel in Wagga. He and Colvin, along with others, have a syndicate there that have purchased 'a fair few' tickets in a bid to gain a slot themselves.
Meantime, Tim Clark has been booked to ride Nic's Hero in the Highway at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
