THEY require a lot of pieces to fall into place, but Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes ruckman Sam De Sousa is confident their Canberra players can make an immediate impact if thrust straight from lockdown into finals.

Canberra's lockdown was extended to Friday, September 17 this week. Should the NSW regional lockdown end on September 10, the earliest start to the two-week Riverina League finals will be the weekend of September 18 and 19.
While travel restrictions clearly may come into play even if that scenario unfolds, De Sousa said he and the other Canberra-based players had been putting in the work to be ready to play immediately.
"I think we're all staying in pretty good nick and working toward that optimistic goal of hopefully going ahead," De Sousa said.
"It's obviously out of our hands a bit, but we'd be happy to get straight back into it if we could.
"We all meet up on Thursdays and train with (third grade side) Woden Blues for a bit of skill and touch, but apart from that it's not much different for us.
"If the lockdown doesn't get extended, the other concern is the travel restrictions might not work in our favour.
"It's frustrating, especially when the team is tracking well. We'll take it as it comes.
"I was having a chat to Rowey (Goannas coach Jeremy Rowe) yesterday saying I'm probably in the best nick I've been all year, just because I've had more time to exercise.
"Personally it (layoff) won't affect me too much because it's almost like going into a pre season game."

Rowe said the effort and engagement put in by his side since the season went into hiatus.
"I don't want to embarrass him, but Ryan Turnbull was recently in a 14 day isolation even before they (Canberra) went into lockdown, and he was seding Strava workouts he was getting done in his backyard," Rowe said.
"That's a good example of the effort everyone has put in.
"It's much better to expect things to go well and our committee, myself and the players are working for the best case scenario.
"That's what keeps you inspired and putting in the work."
