A man has been taken to hospital after being trapped in his car after a crash with a truck on Wagga's outskirts earlier today.
Emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway near Ashmont Avenue and McNickle Road shortly after 3pm, responding to reports of a truck and car crash.
Paramedics assessed two patients at the scene before transporting one to Wagga Base Hospital.
A neighbour who observed the accident from his porch said he saw two cars turning off the Sturt Highway westbound onto McNickle Road, when the second one was hit by a truck travelling eastbound.
"I looked up and saw two cars waiting to turn, one went and the other one followed then the truck went bang-o," he said. "The second car turned straight into the truck."
The neighbour says the force of the collision pushed the car off the busy street and down the embankment. One hour later the car was extracted by a tow truck.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s, was trapped for a short time before he was freed and treated by paramedics, a spokesperson for NSW Ambulance said.
He was treated for head, neck and back pain before being taken to hospital.
