PEOPLE MUST FIND THEIR VOICE
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has recently released its latest report and it is bad news.

Scientists are a careful and conservative lot, relying on meticulous research, but this report lays it on the line.
No ifs, buts or maybes. We are in big trouble and our emissions are the cause.
Massive fires and floods are leaving a trail of death and destruction across normally cool Northern Europe and America (38 degrees celsius in the Arctic! That is normal?).
Southwestern America's drought/dwindling water resources crisis is worsening.
Brave activists such as Extinction Rebellion and Stop Adani are being arrested and charged for the unpardonable "crime" of trying to wake our sleepwalking government from their dangerous stupor over what faces us: climate collapse, geopolitical instability, diminishing crop yields, super-droughts, super-fires and super-storms.
These climate protestors are mums and dads, grandparents and young people fearing their future.
They deserve our support, not condemnation. They are acting for all of us. Because our government, and the majority of us, have not.
The IPCC report gives us a good chance of avoiding the worst if we reduce our emissions by 45 to 50 per cent by 2030.
Morrison's response to this is to deny the science and continue to pour more billions into subsidising fossil fuel projects.
A young XR protester holding placards stands alone each morning on the approach to Parliament.
"They are not violent, the people who protest demonstratively", she says, "they're absolutely terrified.
"They love their families and the world and they're terrified at what climate change is going to do to it and them. And no one has listened to them."
These activists, she says, have tried all of the conventional ways to get their message heard and their current methods are all they have left.
Or perhaps there are those among us who prefer to climb into the anti-science and misinformation peddled by a well known proprietor of tabloid media.
Find your voice, Australia. It is your future.
Bob Montgomery, Mount Austin
AUSTRALIANS EXPECT ACTION
Australia's biggest climate poll was published this week.
Australia has spoken, and it has been made very clear that Australians expect our government to address climate change.
Regional voters are almost as concerned as city dwellers, so past claims that it was only "inner city greenies" who are concerned about climate is wholly untrue.
Given how united Australians are across the country in their desire for strong action on climate, it is unacceptable for the climate denialist Queensland Nationals to be controlling the climate policies for the federal government.
We, the Australians, deserve a government who acts in our best interests. If the Prime Minister and the Liberal Party do not bring in strong climate policies that we expect, then they need to be prepared to face the wrath of voters in the coming federal election.
