All clubs met via zoom on Monday night where the results from a competition-wide poll were discussed, along with some proposals for the Group Nine finals series.
Group Nine originally nominated October 17 as the deadline for a grand final, but now may even consider a later decider, pending COVID-19 restrictions post lockdown.
Group Nine chairman Andrew Hinchcliffe wants to give clubs another look at the proposal before making it public.
"It's still really hard to finalise a decision with the uncertainty of the unknown," Hinchcliffe said.
"What we've done is, we've put another proposal together that we'll share publicly probably later in the week, we just wanted to give clubs another look at it.
"We're really appreciative of the NSW Government and Health advice that come the middle of October, we should see additional freedoms. Obviously we're trying to spitball what that might look like for community sport. It's almost like you've got an opportunity around that so we're just testing people's appetite on how far we move. We're just playing it out."
Hinchcliffe has always been an advocate of Group Nine doing whatever they can to complete the season, should there be demand for it. He has not changed from that position after the feedback from players and clubs.
"We'd asked the clubs to go back and communicate with their stakeholders, obviously their supporters and players most importantly, and their volunteers about what those types of extensions might look like. And how appetising they might be," he said.
"My sense is that our job is to facilitate wherever there is appetite or wherever there is people's desires are, trying to establish where that is, and try our best as possible to facilitate where we can.
"There was definitely a strong contingent of our group that were really keen to proceed into October, into the middle and possibly even entertain later October. There is definitely an appetite there.
"I understand that it's not ideal for everyone but our job is to try and make decisions that are best for the collective."

Hinchcliffe also did not want to rush into locking in a grand final deadline.
"We're mindful of the direction and positivity it could create for our players and supporters but we've got to balance that with trying not to make a decision too soon that could close the door," he said.
"We're hoping that we'll be out of lockdown on the 10th of September and we're hoping that community sport might be able to commence, although we're appreciative of where community sport sits in the big picture of where we are in society at the moment."
