The Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW responded to the fire at a rest area about four kilometres north of Jerilderie on the Newell Highway just after 12pm.
The truck driver was not injured.

"I'm not to sure about the livestock casualties but police, RFS, Fire and Rescue NSW are on the scene and every effort is being made to secure the sheep and get them too safety," he said.
"A vet has been called to look after the welfare of those animals."
Some sheep were later put down as a result of the fire but most were unharmed.
