Smart, who hails from Gundagai and spent time at Wagga, struck twice on the seven-race Albury card.
Kelvedon Road ($1.30) stamped himself as a horse to watch as he scored running away to win the Commercial Club Albury Maiden Plate (1175m).
Tobermory ($18) then made it a day to remember when taking out the DLG Aluminum & Glazing Benchmark 66 Handicap (1000m).
It was Tobermory's first run in more than 18 months, having never previously won over less than 1400m. Both were guided to victory by Mathew Cahill.
Meantime, Mick Travers kept his good run going with back-to-back victories for Mathrin ($5.00) with her success in the Albury Wodonga Plastering Services Class One Handicap (1000m).
Wayne Carroll got on the board with Just Business ($4.80) scoring a dominant win in the Star Hotel Benchmark 58 Handicap (1500m), with Brodie Loy in the saddle.
