Finals will go ahead without crowds, if necessary, once regional NSW emerges from lockdown.
Games may be played at two different venues on the same day, with the league keen to proceed with the top-six format rather than reduce to a top-four.
Round 18 has been cancelled, meaning the home-and-away season is now over.
"We'll move heaven and earth to get a finals series going," Hume League president Brendan I'Anson said.
"We'll do everything humanly possible to get it done and dusted this year because the players deserve it.
"Across the board, players and supporters deserve a grand final and that's what we're going to try to do.
"We'll have a grand final in October if we have to."
While community sport is back in Victoria, spectators still aren't allowed, something which the Hume League may have to contend with once regional NSW re-opens.

"It's a concern but we're happy to push ahead without a crowd if we have to," I'Anson said.
"If that's what the rules and regulations are, we'll play footy without crowds, just to get a result.
"That means we'll take a financial hit but it's more about the players and what they've done for the year.
"We'll do whatever we have to do to get a grand final and if it means taking a financial hit, we will.
"The clubs have been very co-operative. They won't all agree with this decision but the majority do.
"Clubs have been fantastic, swapping grounds and there's a lot of headaches for Osborne footy club, for instance, moving grounds just so they can play.
"It's not easy but we'll work with them once again to get a finals series.
The cancellation of this weekend's round means the top six comprises Osborne, Holbrook, Rand-Walbundrie-Walla, Brocklesby-Burrumbuttock, CDHBU and Henty.
"After acquiring feedback from league-affiliated football and netball clubs, the league executive has decided to abandon the final round of home and away matches due to the current NSW regional COVID-19 lockdown," a statement read.
"If the lockdown is extended beyond midnight Sunday, the league will call a club presidents meeting to determine the format of this year's finals series immediately after any announcement from the NSW Government to end the regional lockdown."
